Sci Fi UK had a piece on Mels take on the new rebooted Mad Max movie that creator/director George Miller that set to star Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy. When asked if he would appear in the new film he may have hinted that there is a Cameo in the cards for the original Max. But never really came outright and said it.
"Oh yeah, I've talked to George," Gibson said in a press conference over the weekend in Santa Monica, Calif. "Yeah, we've had a good chin wag about it. We talk all the time anyway, George and I, so I'm abreast of that."
Sci Fi Wire published this the other day and it gives you a tiny idea of what is to come in the series.
This one is on youtube but its from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film Festival being held in at the Seattle Cinerama.
And the third is also on Youtube but it is a fan made video from the list Wired.com came up with on what sci fi movies that should be rebooted. Some interesting choices .
Zachary Quinto is not quitting Star Trek he is merely stepping aside for a brief moment to work on other projects. But that did not stop Trekies around the world and all over the universe from having a panic attack when Quinto said in an interview with Wired that ;
I’m stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years — no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while.
People read too much into this statement and fail to realize that the next Star Trek is not do out till 2012. And if I can count on the fingers on my hands and toes on my feet that is 2 years. Obvious mistake though and one that can easily be made. Though it did force the actor to write in his blog an updated clarification of that previous statement.
Keanu Reeves will play the lead in an upcoming movie called Passengers. The plot which has Keanu's character on an interstellar ship that will take 100 years to reach its destination. And all the passengers are put into a cryogenic sleep but something goes wrong with the computer and Keanu is woken out 90 years before he should of with no chance of restoring himself to the cryogenic chamber. So instead of facing this faith alone he chooses to wake someone else out of the cryogenic sleep. So happens he chooses a beautiful women that also is along for the ride. Ahem .... Just like a guy to take advantage of a situation like that. And you know it is sci fi because any women that is woken up an hour early that I know would be cranky as heck . Imagine 90 years early.
The movie is being made by Morgan Creek with Reeves, Stephen Hamel and James G. Robinson producing. The script was written Jon Spaihts (Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien prequel) wrote the script. An interesting footnote with Jon Spaihts seems the script for Passengers was #3 for best-unproduced screenplay back in 2007. It was not until now that the film is being made.
It is expected to start shooting sometime in the summer with Gabriele Muccino most likely directing the film.
