World of Warcraft movie (2011)

08 Dec 2009

World of Warcraft movie: from computer screen to big screen, with 'Spider-Man's Sam Raimi to direct

Sam Raimi the guy behind all the Spiderman films and Drag me to hell is the director in charge of a new movie of the upcoming adaptation of the computer cult game WoW ( World of Warcraft ). Matter of fact this film is suppose to be based off of the videogame's central conflict, between the Horde and the Alliance . But when asked in Sci Fi Wire interviewabout the story he responded by saying ;

"That's really going to be something that Sam and whatever screenwriter we choose decide," Pearce said. "For me, telling a story in two to three hours is going to be different from the books that we have or the story in the game. It's a big universe, and we can tell almost any story we want. ... I would personally like to see some cool character development for some of the really important figures in the game. I always look at the Warcraft universe, and there's good and evil and there's right and wrong. I love how the Warcraft universe really sort of borders that between the Alliance and the Horde. Depending on how you look at things, who's good and who's bad, it's gray. And that's cool."

Also fans will be happy to know. just like Stan Lee did with the Spiderman movies the execs at Blizzard told Sci Fi that they will be keeping a close eye on the making of the movie. The VP of Blizzard Frank Pearce admitted that there is no guarantee that "the production company that's making your movie is going to appropriately honor your intellectual property,"

The movie is slated to be released by Warner Brothers and legendary films sometime in 2011 and as of yet no actors or a screen play has been announced.

UFO (2011)

08 Dec 2009

This is becoming a running theme in movies now. Take an old series and make a movie out of it. Does anyone remember UFO a 1970's sci fi series that had to deal with an organization called SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization) that was in charge of dealing with alien enemy threats. DUH... Well here is where I show both my age and my early geekness for all things sci fi. I do remember this series. My father hated it thinking it was nonsense but as a child of things that were sci fi and such , especially the british ones like Tom Bakers role in Dr Who and such , I loved it. Then again probably if I was to watch an episode today I would have to pick my jaw off the floor and give a loud WTF. Then again I still enjoy some of those older shows with the same childhood zest I did back when. I still probably will think the space girls all in tight silver outfits and odd color wigs are still hot.

There is of now not much I can find on this. A lot of the info on it is in the TBA ( to be announced) stage. There is only a couple of tid bits I could find like the special effects guru Matthew Gratzner that did movies like the The Mummy 3, Hancock, Iron Man and Alien: Resurrection will try his hand in directing and the script has already been written by Ryan Gaudet and Joseph Kanarek. Other then that this is on the watch and wait list of movies. Now to go out and rent or search the net for episodes of the series to refresh the memories of what to expect. I bet you that when the release date is close SYFY or BBC will run a marathon of UFO episodes. That will be great but until then here is some things I dug up to enjoy

Battlestar Galactica (2011) Movie ?

08 Dec 2009

The answer to the title is of this blog is ... YEP !! I was confused when I heard the rumor and I did not make a move to write about it thinking it was disgruntle fans of the original. Or fans that wanted to believe that Battlestar was not ending in the way it did. But it is actually going to happen. This time it will hold true to the original series that aired in the late 70's. Most likely Universal thinks with the series that was a hit people would not ..... could not get enough of it. They are probably right. After the successful remake of Star Trek I can bet you that this will be as equally enjoyable to watch and will reinvigorate the franchise once again.

What was once a rumor and now has been confirmed the movie will be both produced and directed by X-men and Supermans Bryan Singer. There is not much more details to this project except it will not be based off the SYFY channels version and it will be a reimagination (That is the buzz word that is being thrown around on all the blogs) of the original.

I leave this blog with the original intro to Battlestar Galctica
