If you haven't heard John Simm will return as the Master sharing the spotlight with his female iteration Missy and the reason according to Steven Moffat on why he is returning. Here is the very first time we will see the Master pair up with himself to fight off the Doctor which may be IMO the episode that seals Peter Capaldi faith and starts off his next regeneration.
When I first peeped the trailer for a very few seconds I thought I spied the jacket that Peters Doctor was wearing as he was regenerating on John Simms back. I was wrong but for a brief second I had a what if and that would be a cool plot twist that Missy would face the Doctors new persona but this time it would be wearing one of her old faces. Considering Simm's has that outgoing personality he portrays as the Master it would be a fun path to explore. But alas that is not the case and it only will play out in my own imagination.
Doctor Who: Steven Moffat reveals why he brought back John Simm's Master
The Master returns - Doctor Who: Series 10: Trailer
Peter Capaldi announced on BBC Radio 2 that his will be the last season he will be the Doctor. As the 12th Doctor he received mixed reviews. You either loved him or hated him which in my opinion was not fair to him for those that hated him . Personally I think he did a great job as the 12th Doctor however I thought the writing was weak with the exception of a couple of episodes. And there was a different tone to the filming of most episodes which took a lot out of the flow of the series.
This actually came to no surprised to me considering Steven Moffat is stepping down and being replaced by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall. In the past that also meant a new Doctor.

Peter Capaldi said:
"One of the greatest privileges of being Doctor Who is to see the world at its best. From our brilliant crew and creative team working for the best broadcaster on the planet, to the viewers and fans whose endless creativity, generosity and inclusiveness points to a brighter future ahead. I can’t thank everyone enough. It’s been cosmic."
Steven Moffatt hints at that this version of the Doctor will have some surprises and in away be different from all the others.
