Can this be the Legendary Godzilla

This could be or maybe not what Godzilla may look like in the upcoming 2013 or maybe 2014 big screen , big budgeted American Godzilla film. According to Dread Central and infamous kid.com Legendary Pictures may have hired Hector A. Arce, a creature/fantasy sculptor for his work he had done on sculpturing Godzilla a long time ago. It is rumored that this or something really close to it maybe the look of Godzilla. None of this is confirmed it is in the strong rumor column from what I am reading. But truthfully if this is the way they are going it is way better then the Tri Star version . They could loose some of the spikes but at least it looks like Godzilla we all know and love. What do you think ?

There was also another article or rather the video in the article at Dread Central called An Open Letter to Legendary Pictures RE: Godzilla that caught my attention. Since I never saw this clip before I thought to myself is this a coming attraction to a reboot of the Japanese Godzilla. Alas not but it was super cool any way. It turns out it is some sort of dream or something like the sequence in a Japanese movie called ALWAYS- SUNSET ON THIRD STREET- 2 which was a surprise and a hit with the Japanese audience and rightfully so. It is a fantastically full CG'ed sequence. And I hope that those doing Legendary's version has watched that clip.

Godzilla lands Gareth Edwards as director

Source Hollywood Reporter

The Legendary Pictures Godzilla film is now in full motion with the announcement of Gareth Edwards as the man who will direct this project. Great Choice in my opinion. Monsters was an amazing indie film that was made with little to nothing funds. Matter of fact it was done with a micro budget of 15,ooo and was about alien life forms that spread throughout central America leading to the quarantine of half of Mexico. The U.S. and Mexican militaries are battling to contain the creatures, with a wall stretching along the American border. The story follows Andrew, an American photojournalist helping his wealthy employer's daughter, Samantha, get back to America. Their journey takes them across Central America and eventually into the 'infected zone'

Edwards’ Monsters work has won the filmmaker three British Independent Film Awards, including nods for best director, best achievement in production and best technical achievement. It also landed him work with Timur Bekmambetov on an epic sci-fi project that he is writing as a directing vehicle

Godzilla will be done by Legendary Pictures and Co Produced by Warner Brothers and will be released sometime in 2012.

This is a follow up on the blog article Is Godzilla returning to America ? It now looks like it is full steam ahead for the project according to Variety as Legendary Pictures confirms what was rumors by stating

  • it's planning to announce a director shortly, and indicated that its "Godzilla" will pay respects to the original pic rather than follow up on Sony's 1998 "Godzilla." I
  • Godzilla is one of the world's most powerful pop culture icons, and we at Legendary are thrilled to be able to create a modern epic based on this long-loved Toho franchise," said Thomas Tull, chairman and CEO of Legendary. "Our plans are to produce the Godzilla that we, as fans, would want to see. We intend to do justice to those essential elements that have allowed this character to remain as pop-culturally relevant for as long as it has."
  • Legendary noted Monday that "Godzilla" will fall under its co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros. Legendary's productions with Warners have included "The Dark Knight," "300" and "The Hangover." Lynn Harris is overseeing for Warners.

Is Godzilla returning to America ?

Back in August of 2009 I came across an articles from Bloody - Disgusting that confirmed  that Legendary Pictures is set to reboot the king of all monsters Godzilla in another attempt to bring the big guy back to America. We all know how the 1998 attempt went. It was a horrid reboot that was not even Godzilla. It was so bad the Japanese renamed it Zilla and there was even a clip in the last Godzilla movie made "Final Wars" where Godzilla fries Zilla. As seen in this video clip. It kind of gives you a clue of what they really thought of that film.
