Dr Who Season 6 Teaser

This is actually called a prequel by BBC definitions but what ever the case it is a good one. BBC Has always found a way to keep you hooked into the series even after what seems like forever for the next seasons arrival. The first episode of season 6 will air both in the UK and the US on April 23. That is Easter weekend for those lost in time themselves.

The prequel has former late President Nixon receiving a mysterious phone call from a girl begging him to turn around. There is a monster behind him. Kind of gives you a hint that it's the early 70's and the US that the season opener plot will be in.

So with out any more of my dribble here is the video from BBC One. P.S. the first episode is called "The Impossible Astronaut"

Sam Raimi will direct Wizard of Oz prequel

Disney is going to do a reboot of the 1939 classic iconic film Wizard of Oz and Sam Raimi will be directing it. Of course it will be done in digital 3D also. Sources say the film will be a prequel to the original dealing with the Wizard himself as a youngster that gets via tornado to Oz. Which to my surprise in one of the comments there was a refference of how the story would not match up to the original stories of Oz . 40 of them to be exact . Most you can read on line for free because its public domain (Project Gutenberg is one of those online Public Domain sites).

I am sure Disney will do a good job with this movie and the children will love it. But I thought it would be fun to do some research and look into the Wizards beginnings mainly out of curiosity but also to see how close the movie plot when it finally comes out would be based off the novels or will Disney and the screen writers just take a totally new direction all together.

Meet the new professor Xavier in the X-men Prequel

X-Men: First Class has moved from the planning stage to the hiring stage . First actor to sign on to the prequel is James McAvoy. It is reported from Sci FI Wire and LA Times to name a few he will take on the role of a very young Professor X . In this prequel its reported that he and yet to be arch enemy Magneto(Erik Lehnsherr)  are working together to help and protect humanity from the threat to come with rouge mutants.  No word on who the other actors that will come to play others like Scot Summers and the beast but you can be assured it is a whole new crew. partly because of the story line and partly because of the age factor. Patrick Stewart who first played the professor is an excellent actor but he is getting to old for the part. Yea I know it is almost sacrilege to say that because of charter of the actor we are talking about but Hollywood is known to make moves like this i.e Star Trek's Capt Kirk.  Anyway this move if successful will revitalize the franchise and you can bet to see at least 2 more after that.  Side note I will be real curious to see if this will be based on the comic series by the same name X- Men First Class ?

Planet of the Apes prequel in planning stage

News from Sci Fi Wire, CHUD, and Deadline Hollywood came out that director Rupert Wyatt is given the mon-KEYs (sorry for the bad humor) to the franchise  to direct a prequel of Planet of the Apes. The non official working title of the film is Caesar: Rise of the Apes which ties it directly to the old original series of films itself. If you remembered your Apeology correctly, Caesar was the son of Cornelius and Zira and was born in modern times after the pair traveled back into time in the movie Escape from the Planet of the Apes in 1971 and later was featured in the movies Conquest of the Planet of the Apes as a revolutionary leader and then in Battle for the Planet of the Apes as the ape leader.

Ape fact: He was born as Milo and then later on choosing the name Caesar in defiance of human rule.

CHUD warns that this film for us that have seen the series will not be overly surprised with some of the content but offers some interesting points and hints on the film.
