INTRUDERS Teaser – 2014 BBC America

06 Jun 2014

Screen Shot 2014-06-06 at 10.51.07 AM

This is one series I am really looking forward to. I was surprise to have found out that not to many are even aware of this series even some Doctor Who fans are not totally clued in to this. Which I found kind of shocking considering that much of the advertising has been done on the BBC America time slot for Doctor Who , Star Trek TNG , Torchwood block. So my good deed is to spread the word and give a glimpse on what looks like it may be one of those silent hits.

Intruders is an upcoming American drama television series based on Michael Marshall Smith's 2007 novel The Intruders. Its 8-episode first season will premiere on the American cable television network BBC America. Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Stamm will share directing duties.

Plot summary taken from BBCAmerica Intruder Official Webpage. Click HERE to visit page.
Production is under way in Vancouver British Columbia for BBC AMERICA’s new original series Intruders, starring celebrated British actor John Simm and Oscar® winner Mira Sorvino. The series is about a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others. Produced by BBC Worldwide Productions, from writer and executive producer Glen Morgan (The X-Files), the series is based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel The Intruders.

A contemporary, chilling, paranormal tale set in the moody Pacific Northwest, the series spins a fascinating and complex web of drama. As strange, apparently unrelated events start happening, multiple story lines—a missing wife, an assassin covering his crimes, a child on the run—begin to intertwine to reveal a conspiracy that will forever change our understanding of human nature.

Simm, who previously starred in the hit BBC AMERICA series Life on Mars, State of Play and Doctor Who, is joined by Sorvino, whose impressive multi-award-winning body of work includes Mighty Aphrodite, Norma Jean & Marilyn and Human Trafficking. The cast includes James Frain (The White Queen, Tron: Legacy) and Tory Kittles (True Detective), and introduces 10-year-old Millie Brown (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland), making her debut in a series lead role.

Under the direction of Eduardo Sanchez (Blair Witch Project, Exists) and Daniel Stamm (13 Sins, The Last Exorcism), the creative team includes acclaimed production designer Mark Freeborn (Breaking Bad). The series is executive produced by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner for BBC Worldwide Productions, Glen Morgan, and Rose Lam (The L Word).

Jack Whelan (John Simm), a former LAPD cop with a troubled and violent history, finds the quiet idyllic life he has crafted with his wife, Amy (Mira Sorvino) shattered when she goes missing. While Jack is consumed with an investigation, which threatens his very core, a sinister agent named Richard Shepherd (James Frain) is embarking on a series of lethal executions. Meanwhile, a distraught little girl named Madison (Millie Brown) runs away from home into a world of danger.

Mira Sorvino says “I feel I have been haunted, in the best possible way, by Glen Morgan’s deeply compelling script. I am thrilled to undertake what may be one of the greatest artistic challenges of my career, and who better to take this journey with than John Simm, James Frain, and everyone at BBC America and BBC Worldwide Productions!”

“It’s such an intriguing story,” says James Frain. “I was immediately hooked. An actor always responds to great scripts, and Glen Morgan’s adaptation both hits the genre notes and allows for characters of range, complexity, and emotional truth.”

Intruders is a BBC AMERICA original series produced by BBC Worldwide Productions and distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide. The series is part of BBC AMERICA’s slate of dramas including original series Orphan Black, The Game, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Ripper Street, Doctor Who, Atlantis, Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond and In The Flesh.

  • John Simm as Jack Whelan, an ex-police officer with a dark, violent past
  • Mira Sorvino as Amy, Jack's wife, who goes missing
  • James Frain as Richards Shepherd, a murderer who claims to be an FBI agent

How to Trail Your Dragon TV Series Trailers

28 Feb 2012

There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes.
Doctor Who

That is a quote I take quite literally and that also pertains to the shows I sometimes watch.  And if you think I seem a little giddy about a computer animated Cartoon Network Show of the hit movie How to Train Your Dragon ? Then you would be quite right.  I loved the movie and I am looking forward to the plan How to Train Your Dragon 2 full length theatrical due out sometime in 2014.  But for the meantime the CN TV series whose 2 trailers ( below )  looks as good as the movie did. Even though most of the scenes were directly from the movie itself with the exception of two or three short clips.   The series itself has not been announced but is expected to premier sometime in the fall of 2012 .

Bedlam: BBC America Trailer- 10-01-11

29 Sep 2011

I like this trailer. It gives you this eerie scary type of old fashion haunted ghost story feel. If the series lives up to the trailer then BBC has another hit over here in the states. It just has that feel to me as a winner . Well we will see , right . I also included below the trailer the shows schedule for October.

Plot Synopsis from BBC America
Bedlam is a ghostly series set around Bedlam Heights -- a hip, newly renovated apartment building. Those who live there think they have the best address in the world, but little do they know their new home has a harrowing past.
The conversion of Bedlam Heights from a former insane asylum has awakened the ghosts of its dark and violent past. These spirits wish to reclaim what's theirs and seek revenge on those who have wronged them.
Kate (Charlotte Salt, The Tudors), a direct descendant of the people who ran the former asylum for generations, lives and works in Bedlam Heights. Her father, Warren (Hugo Speer, Skins), still owns the old family property, and Kate is helping him fill the remaining vacant apartments. She shares her apartment with roommates Ryan (Will Young, Skins) and Molly (Ashley Madekwe, Secret Diary of a Call Girl), but only with the unexpected arrival of Kate's adopted cousin, Jed (Theo James, Downton Abbey) -- a troubled man with a history of mental illness who sees ghosts and visions of the past -- are they able to uncover the terrifying secrets of Bedlam Heights. The hauntings that follow prove that sometimes when you scratch away the surface, things aren't always what they seem.
Written and created by Neil Jones (Blue Murder), David Allison (Boy Meets Girl) and Chris Parker (EastEnders).
Bedlam Premieres Saturday, October 1st at 10pm/9c.

Here is a little background of the book series from the wiki . Very accurate in details . I admit to reading one of the Stephen King Dark tower books and now curious to get some more . The one I read i found very entertaining and in Stephen King fashion very

The Dark Tower is a series of books written by American author Stephen King, which incorporates themes from multiple genres, including fantasyscience fantasyhorror and western. It describes a "Gunslinger" and his quest toward a tower, the nature of which is both physical and metaphorical. King has described the series as his magnum opus. Besides the seven novels that compose the series proper, many of his other books relate to the story, introducing concepts and characters that come into play as the series progresses. After the series was finished, a series of prequel comics followed.

The series was chiefly inspired by the poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" by Robert Browning, whose full text was included in the final volume's appendix. In the preface to the revised 2003 edition of The Gunslinger, King also identifies The Lord of the RingsArthurian Legend, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly as inspirations. He identifies Clint Eastwood's "Man with No Name" character as one of the major inspirations for the protagonist, Roland Deschain. King's style of location names in the series, such as Mid-World, and his development of a unique language abstract to our own (High Speech), are also influenced byJ. R. R. Tolkien's work.

n the story, Roland Deschain is the last living member of a knightly order known as gunslingers and the last of the line of "Arthur Eld", his world's analogue of King Arthur. Politically organized along the lines of a feudal society, it shares technological and social characteristics with the American Old West but is also magical. Many of the magical aspects have vanished from Mid-World, but traces remain as do relics from a technologically advanced society. Roland's quest is to find the Dark Tower, a fabled building said to be the nexus of all universes. Roland's world is said to have "moved on", and it appears to be coming apart at the seams. Mighty nations have been torn apart by war, entire cities and regions vanish without a trace and time does not flow in an orderly fashion. Even the sun sometimes rises in the north and sets in the east. As the series opens, Roland's motives, goals and age are unclear, though later installments shed light on these mysteries.
