Despicable Me : Review

A Universal animation that is great fun for the whole family. I know that because I took my overly hyper 4 year old and my equally overly critical 11 year old to see it. The result was they both loved it. To tell you the truth so did I. I guess you can say kid tested and approved. The movie has a good balance of children , adolescence , and adult humor mixed with in the plot. A great moral and feel good ending and some lovable characters . Some of my favorites other then Gru where the nutty professor Dr. Nefario. Gru's who hearing impaired and keeps bumbling the inventions like the fart gun and the dart gun. You get the idea. And of course the minions who are a bunch of yellowish small creatures that remind me of the  Rayman Rabbids ( if you ever played the game you understand) .

The movie itself has very few moments of boredom and is totally entertaining.  I highly recommend seeing this especially if you are one of those Sci Fi / Fantasy fans that love a good simple movie that has a lot of light hearted story with a good  mix of humor. Oh yea and of course if you can see it in 3D do it to maximize your experience.

Wolfman (2010) Trailer

Universal is set to reboot the Wolfman movie and from the look of the trailer they are showing why they may still be the king if monster and horror flicks. The movie trailer looks like it is a slick well produced film. Bringing back one of the classics for a new generation is a great idea and the Wolfman was perfect choice .

I remember back in the day when I was a wee little lad I use to look forward to the weekend especially Saturdays when the local channels would air their versions of sci fi / horror movie hours. Usually they were something like Chiller Theater ( I still remember the six finger hand plucking the chiller letters from the muddy oooz ) or Fright Night are the two I can remember at the moment. But most of the time they were the movies all about the Universal monsters . Frankenstein , Invisible Man , Dracula , and of course the Wolfman. To me back then they were all the things of nightmares . I can see for todays audience the films would be dated and to some may be hard to watch what with all the high tech , high budgets , and computer CG films of today. But back then they were the deal and even now I must admit I get a little geeky when they rerun those classics on AMC or one of the Turner channels. The fact that they are applying todays advancements to the classic could go one or the other way. I am betting that it will be a classic film that will be fun to watch and wont hurt the eyes and brain. Unlike some remakes have done in the past.

Harry Potter theme park

One of the Universal theme park (Islands of Adventures) in Orlando Florida will have a Harry Potter section added to it in the spring 2010. The 20 acre section of the park named Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature a realistic view of the Hogsmeade village complete with the Hogwarts express , castle and other attractions .

So being curious and also excited to see the new theme park for myself ( hopefully it will be open by March ) I went straight to the Univeral park web site that was set up for the new section. There I found a neat type of navigation and went right to the F&Q section and map part of the site to get a feel of what is in store for guest. It is a mouth watering tease I can assure you that. And have visited Universal on many occasions I can tell you that they do not make to many mistakes on their attractions. The first look video is also a nice idea of what is instore for you (check at the bottom of the post to get the link for the Universal/Harry Potter site) Here is the results that I found from them and other sources.
