What you get when you combine 2 of the most influential, famous , and imaginative Sci Fi franchise of all times ? A comic book that will have most collectors clambering for and all but the disinterested fans drooling for and without a doubt be one for the history books. IDW Publishing has announced on Monday Feb 13, 2012 that it will put out a comic with that features the characters of Dr Who and Star Trek The Next Generation. The book will be out in May 2012 with collaborations from BBC Worldwide Consumer Products and CBS Consumer Products, IDW Publishing and is called STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION2 which like I said will feature the TNG crew and Dr Who and companions but will also feature an alliance of Cybermen and the Borg. DC Entertainment a Warner Brothers Entertainment comany has revealed what they are calling a new identity for their brand which encompasses DC Comics, Veritgo and MAD . In a statement on the DC Website there are 3 key statements that kind of explain their reasoning behind the rebranding of DC.
“It’s a new era at DC Entertainment and the new look reflects a dynamic, bold approach while at the same time celebrates the company’s rich heritage and robust portfolio of characters,” stated John Rood, EVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for DC Entertainment. “It was just a few months ago that Superman, Batman and many of our other Super Heroes were updated when we launched DC Comics – The New 52 and now it’s time to do the same for the company’s identity while remaining true to the power of storytelling which is still at the heart of DC Entertainment.”
Nicolas Aparicio, Executive Creative Director at Landor’s San Francisco office said “It was our goal to capture DC Entertainment in a dynamic and provocative identity. Our solution is a living expression which changes and adapts to the characters, story lines and the ways fans are consuming content,” . “The new identity is built for the digital age, and can easily be animated and customized to take full advantage of the interactivity offered across all media platforms.”
SYFY Channel has ordered a 1 hour pilot episode of DC's Booster Gold. The pilot will be written by "Fringe's" Andrew Kreisberg who will also be the executive producer and also will be produced by Greg Berlanti's Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television
Booster Gold is a great pick for a series . He is not one of those lovable types that always has to the hero. He is more like a greedy arrogant type. A glory hound that came from the future to be a super hero . He used his knowledge of current events to stage heroics but Booster soon learns what it means to be a hero slowly through the course of his publication. His first appearance was in Booster Gold Issue #1 (Feb 1986) and the character has appeared in Justice League as a member and also Smallville in the the 10th season. If the pilot and most likely series keeps true to the character it should be a SYFY winner for NBC Universal and SYFY.
Here is a good book for the kiddies of those fantics of Dr Who and such like me. It is a Where's Waldo type of book except you have to find the Dr by Penguin Books who incidentally has more Dr Who children books that falls under the category of BBC Children Books

Just look on the right side of the web page for email text field to submit your email. The book will run for £8.99 (British Pound) over the pond and that would equate to 14.4502 USD if the currency converter is accurate .Or you can pre order it at Amazon.com. Hmmmm Maybe I have to add a children books category on my store page for Amazon.
