Back in December BBC America made a major announcement that they were committed to enhancing their Sci Fi line up. In a posted letter that states

BBC AMERICA has long showcased the best of British sci-fi with such hit series as Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Being Human. Today it further demonstrates its commitment to the genre with the announcement of a refreshed primetime sci-fi slate for Supernatural Saturdays. In this slot, the channel will roll out three all new co-productions, Primeval, Outcasts, and Bedlam. It will also be home for new seasons of previous co-productions Doctor Who and Being Human. And as previously announced, BBC AMERICA will premiere the highly anticipated Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol on Christmas Day, the same day as its UK broadcast.

One of the two series of interest is Outcast (airs June 18) and Bedlam (airs October 8).

From the BBC America press release on  Outcast :

With Earth no longer habitable, a group of courageous pioneers have traveledto another planet to begin again.  They’ve built the town of Forthaven on Carpathia and have the unique opportunity of creating a new and better future on another planet.  Led by President Tate (Cunningham) and his core team of Stella (Norris), Cass (Daniel Mays, The Bank Job, Atonement) and Fleur (Amy Manson, Being Human),  they’re determined to run the civilization in a democratic way, but some tough decisions in the past may prove divisive.

As the series begins it’s a moment of incredible anticipation. Forthaven has lost all contact with Earth but the arrival of the last known transporter, with Julius Berger (Eric Mabius) on board, signals fresh hopes and dreams.   But why does President Tate seem anxious about the imminent arrival of Berger and will the transporter land safely with Stella’s husband and daughter, who she heartbreakingly left behind?

Meanwhile those appointed Expeditionaries, Mitchell (Jamie Bamber, Battlestar Galactica) and Jack (Ashley Walters, Small Island, Hustle), have a mission to explore the new planet and bring back vital information to the settlement.   Will they find other life out there, or do they truly have the planet to themselves?

The settlers are a diverse group of individuals who left their old lives behind in extraordinary circumstances.  They’ve been promised a second chance but are far away from home, friends, family and their pasts.  Passionate about their jobs, confident of their ideals and optimistic about the future, they work hard to preserve what they’ve built on the planet they now call home.

Carpathia offers the possibility of redemption as the new inhabitants try to avoid the mistakes made on Earth.  Inevitably they cannot escape the human pitfalls of love, greed, lust, loss, corruption and a longing for those they’ve left behind.   As they continue to work and live together, they come to realize this is no ordinary planet.  Is there a bigger purpose at work? Is the peace of Forthaven more fragile than they think?

BBC America Press release on Bedlam :

Bedlam (6 x 60), a co-production of BBC AMERICA and Red Productions (Queer as Folk), stars singer and actor Will Young (Pop Idol winner, Skins), Charlotte Salt (The Tudors) and Joanna Page (Gavin & Stacey). It is written by Neil Jones, David Allison and Chris Parker, the Executive Producer is Nicola Schindler for Red Productions. Set in Bedlam Heights – an apartment building converted from a pre-Victorian lunatic asylum – the inhabitants experience the darker side of the building’s history when former asylum spirits come back to claim what they believe to be theirs and seek revenge on those who have wronged them

Also Joining their Sci Fi line up is Battlestar Galactica. Battlestar Galactica “Night 1” premieres on Saturday, June 11, 10:00pm ET/PT and “Night 2” airs in its new regular timeslot on Saturday, June 18, 7:00pm ET/PT. Two episodes will premiere back-to-back each week starting on Saturday, June 25 with Season 1 Episode 1 at 7:00pm ET/PT and Episode 2 at 8:00pm ET/PT.

And of course Being Human season 2 and 3 . Season 2 premiers on Saturday, July 24, directly following the Doctor Who season finale and season 3 premiers on Supernatural Saturday, February 19, 9:00p.m. ET/PT for eight weeks.

Dr Who of course will continue with the second part of the Living Flesh next week and ending this season with a fan favorite a 2 part episode with the Weeping Angels and Van Gogh. Doctor Who two-part finale premiered Saturday, July 17, 9:00p.m. ET/PT and Saturday, July 24, 9:00p.m. ET/ PT.

Primevel … Well I can not find to much of whats going on with that now. The season 4 already started with 7 episodes. Honestly I kept missing the show when it was on and got lost on it. The net is anemic with info on scheduling . The source that is most trustworthy is of course BBC America itself. So for more info on that show go to the BBC America page for Primevel

Other Shows include Star Trek the Next Generation and X Files
