The Mirror has reported as a New Year honor 69 year old actor Patrick Stewart who is best known for his roles as Captain Picard of Star Trek TNG and Charles Xavier from the X-men movies will be handed a gong by the Queen for his services to the arts and knighted. Who by the  Palace sources is a huge fan of Stewart’s. That will just cap off a stellar career for a brilliant actor which spanned about a half a century in both film and theater . He will join this short list of actors and musicians that have been knighted .

Men (Sir)

Michael Caine
Anthony Hopkins
Christopher Lee
Laurence Olivier
Ralph Richardson
John Gielgud
Sean Connery
Ian McKellen
John Mills
Roger Moore
Alec Guiness
Peter Ustinov

Women (Dame)

Judy Dench
Maggie Smith
Diana Rigg
Sybil Thorndyke
Helen Mirren
Thora Hird
Julie Andrew Edwards
I guess the next title role he does you will see the credits as Sir Patrick Stewart.
