Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is an upcoming American fantasy adventure comedy film co-written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, based on the tabletop role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons. The film is set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, which was originally created by Ed Greenwood. The film has no connections to the trilogy released between 2000 and 2012. The film stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant.
The film went through various phases in development; beginning with Warner Bros. Pictures after beating Universal Pictures in a lawsuit, before moving to Paramount Pictures; each with various writers and directors. Goldstein and Daley were the final writers/directors, using elements from the previous attempt by director Chris McKay and screenwriter Michael Gilio; both McKay and Gilio were granted story credits. Filming began in April 2021 in Iceland and later Northern Ireland with Barry Peterson as director of photography. In post-production, Dan Lebental serves as editor, and Lorne Balfe composed the score.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is scheduled to be released theatrically in the United States on March 3, 2023, by Paramount Pictures.
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
