In the past couple of years there has been a bunch of Kaiju anime series staring the more popular franchise icons of the kaiju world such Godzilla , Kong , Pacific Rim….. And those series seem to fall short of what they could have been. So obviously my expectations of the new Netflix Anime Kaiju series of another Japanese kaiju icon Gamera was rather low. Matter of fact I almost balked on watching it altogether because of the other series. I figure, “Hey this is just gonna be another attempt to cash in on the popularity of a franchise and another underwhelming and silly series”. Well I was wrong. At least on the first two episodes ( I have not watched the rest of the series yet). To my surprise the episodes are done well so far. A better than average human plot geared towards anime lovers, pretty decent animation overall story so far seems better than the others mentioned and some really damn good (finally) monster on monster (lets call it kaiju porn for the addicted) kaiju action. It is well worth giving it whirl. There is only 6 episodes of this series that are listed below with a brief description that was supplied by both the official web site and Netflix. and I am hoping that it recieves the attention and love it deserves so Netflix will fund another mini series for next year.

Episode 1 – Tokyo Sky: (44m)

A swarm of flying creatures, Gyaos, suddenly appears and overruns Shinjuku.
Even the US forces in the Far East are unable to defeat Gyaos, and F15s are shot down one after another.
People being preyed on one after another.
Boko, Joe, and Junichi plan to get revenge on Brody for stealing their savings. However, when he attempts a confrontation, he gets caught up in Gyaos’s attack.
At the moment when the four people are about to be eaten by the small Gyaos, a gigantic being appears.
It was Gamera, a monster in the form of a turtle.

Episode 2 – Underground Sewer : (43m)

A monster egg suddenly hatches in the research building of the US military’s Fussa base in the Far East.
The monster escapes underground through the sewers.
After learning about the monster’s escape, the four Bokos form a vigilante group and set out to find the monster.
The four find a hole that seems to have been dug by a monster and move forward.
At that time, the monsters had become gigantic through cannibalism.
When the four people are rescued by the Far East US military and come to the surface, the monster finally appears on the surface. Its name is Jaiger. Gamera flies towards the rampaging Jaiger.

Episode 3 – Run Silent, Run Deep: (45m)

While aboard a high tech Eustace Foundation ship, the kids hear about a kaiju attack on a passenger liner — and they might be the next target.

Episode 4 – Kill: (44m)

The kids are brought to an island base for further testing, causing a rare rift between Boco and Joe. Meanwhile, James tells Emiko that he wants out.

Episode 5 – The Moon is a Harsh Mistress: (46m)

The kids have a disturbing vision when Boco touches a piece of Orylium. They realize what Emiko has planned for them — and for Viras.

Episode 6 – Childhood Ends; (47m)

While the military undertakes a top secret mission to save Gamera, Boco sends a message out to Joe. Then suddenly, Gyaos attacks.
