March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015
One would say the film industry has lost an iconic star today but that would be a dishonor to his name. I think it’s more appropriate in saying that the planet lost a true legend in every aspect of the word. Nimoy died at his home in Bel Air rom complications of COPD ( chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) at the age of 83.
Best know for his role as a half Human half logical Vulcan character Mr Spock that he played in the eternal original Star Trek series. Who for generations inspired us that loved the show to think of the world differently and in many ways forced us to improve on our beliefs and in many ways raise the bar for ourselves in how we lived. Even more people if you include the ones that may of not like the show but related to the ideals that his character represented. He also stared or participated in one way or another in a mega amount of films, television, games, recording, books, wrote poetry and photography. There is probably much much more that I am missing but the what there is that I can find is hugely impressive. (see full list of his career below)
Ironic as this sounds the first time I saw him was not on Star Trek but reruns of the old Mission Impossible tv series which he played Paris (Season 4-5). It was shortly after that I was introduced again in syndication reruns of Star Trek. Shortly after that it was the documentary series that searched for evidence of the paranormal In Search of. It seemed all the shows that I gravitated to had at one point and time Leonard Nimoy. I like to think in looking back that it was his ability as an actor that gave those shows that extra oomph that made so many flock to them.
In closing I will rewrite what a wrote on a couple of post . May he live long and prosper no matter where the universe may take him now. And I will also add this. May his journey to the here after be as fruitful and may he bring the same joy and professionalism that he gave us on this floating blue rock in space we call Earth.
