According to these articles at Blastr.com, MTV, and Deadline . Myst one of my favorite computer games of all time is going to be a feature film. I still remember the first time I played the game on my old Mac 7100. Then getting the sequel Riven. Anyway enough of memory lane the movie will be made those that brought you Narnia and the cult hit Donnie Darko.
“Our aim with this project is to stretch the genres it operated within, much like the source material did,” said Mysteria Film Group’s Adrian Vanderbosch, who is partnering with Mark Johnson (Narnia) and Hunt Lowry (Donnie Darko) for the film.
“It is such an innovative property and by utilizing the novels as our primary resource, we have the opportunity to offer audiences the essence of Myst without being limited only to the famous island of the first game. Our focus has always been on creating an entirely new visual experience driven by engaging characters and an epic narrative.”
It should be interesting to see how they manage to put it all together considering it is not an action game and only has a handful of characters. To tell you the truth I think it can be done really well and mostly within the games parameters. I do understand and will forgive if they have to hype it a bit for the action and adrenaline junkies . However I hope they keep it to the more cerebral and visually enticing epic that made it one of the best selling games of all time.
