Dracula Untold – Trailer

07 Jul 2014

Release date October

It looks like there is no plot summary from Universal and their new compadres at Legendary Pictures yet. Though if I had to guess from the trailer it looks like they are doing an origin story based somewhat on historical fact of Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431–1476/77) and mixing the fictionally created vampier legend story by Bram Stoker of the character.

  • Luke Evans as Vlad III , the man who becomes the mythological Dracula
  • Sarah Gadon as Mirena, wife of Vlad
  • Dominic Cooper as Mehmed the Second
  • Samantha Barks as Baba Yaga, a beautiful woman who turns into an evil witch
  • Art Parkinson as Ingeras, son of Vlad/Dracula
  • Charles Dance
  • Charlie Cox
  • Will Houston as Cazan
  • Ferdinand Kingsley as Hamza Bey
  • Noah Huntley as Captain Petru
  • Dilan Gwyn as Governess
  • Zach McGowan as Shkelgim, a gypsy chief
  • Ronan Vibert as Simion "The Wise"
  • Diarmaid Murtagh as Dimitru
  • Thor Kristjansson as Bright Eyes, a former slave who is now an assassin in the Ottoman Army
  • Joseph Long as Omer

Godzilla main trailer

25 Feb 2014

The second and the main trailer for Godzilla has just been release featuring some tantalizing hints of the plot. A section that stands out the most is the homage to the 1954 original movie. In a short segment a scene of a pacific island , a atomic bomb with a no Godzilla stamped on it , a voice that said this was no test they were trying to kill it. Other scenes from the trailer are that is pretty telling is an insect like foot coming down hard on the land and what looked like a prehistoric bird flying in the air. Could that be Rodan another of Toho's iconic monster ? Also there was a scene of a cracked Statue of Liberty . Since this is mainly suppose to be on the west coast my guess is its the one in Las Vegas not New York. But who knows? It could be other creatures rumored to be featured in this film.

Can this be the Legendary Godzilla

13 Oct 2011

This could be or maybe not what Godzilla may look like in the upcoming 2013 or maybe 2014 big screen , big budgeted American Godzilla film. According to Dread Central and infamous kid.com Legendary Pictures may have hired Hector A. Arce, a creature/fantasy sculptor for his work he had done on sculpturing Godzilla a long time ago. It is rumored that this or something really close to it maybe the look of Godzilla. None of this is confirmed it is in the strong rumor column from what I am reading. But truthfully if this is the way they are going it is way better then the Tri Star version . They could loose some of the spikes but at least it looks like Godzilla we all know and love. What do you think ?

There was also another article or rather the video in the article at Dread Central called An Open Letter to Legendary Pictures RE: Godzilla that caught my attention. Since I never saw this clip before I thought to myself is this a coming attraction to a reboot of the Japanese Godzilla. Alas not but it was super cool any way. It turns out it is some sort of dream or something like the sequence in a Japanese movie called ALWAYS- SUNSET ON THIRD STREET- 2 which was a surprise and a hit with the Japanese audience and rightfully so. It is a fantastically full CG'ed sequence. And I hope that those doing Legendary's version has watched that clip.

Godzilla lands Gareth Edwards as director

07 Jan 2011

Source Hollywood Reporter

The Legendary Pictures Godzilla film is now in full motion with the announcement of Gareth Edwards as the man who will direct this project. Great Choice in my opinion. Monsters was an amazing indie film that was made with little to nothing funds. Matter of fact it was done with a micro budget of 15,ooo and was about alien life forms that spread throughout central America leading to the quarantine of half of Mexico. The U.S. and Mexican militaries are battling to contain the creatures, with a wall stretching along the American border. The story follows Andrew, an American photojournalist helping his wealthy employer's daughter, Samantha, get back to America. Their journey takes them across Central America and eventually into the 'infected zone'

Edwards’ Monsters work has won the filmmaker three British Independent Film Awards, including nods for best director, best achievement in production and best technical achievement. It also landed him work with Timur Bekmambetov on an epic sci-fi project that he is writing as a directing vehicle

Godzilla will be done by Legendary Pictures and Co Produced by Warner Brothers and will be released sometime in 2012.

Update on Legendary Pictures Godzilla project

14 Apr 2010

This is a follow up on the blog article Is Godzilla returning to America ? It now looks like it is full steam ahead for the project according to Variety as Legendary Pictures confirms what was rumors by stating

  • it's planning to announce a director shortly, and indicated that its "Godzilla" will pay respects to the original pic rather than follow up on Sony's 1998 "Godzilla." I
  • Godzilla is one of the world's most powerful pop culture icons, and we at Legendary are thrilled to be able to create a modern epic based on this long-loved Toho franchise," said Thomas Tull, chairman and CEO of Legendary. "Our plans are to produce the Godzilla that we, as fans, would want to see. We intend to do justice to those essential elements that have allowed this character to remain as pop-culturally relevant for as long as it has."
  • Legendary noted Monday that "Godzilla" will fall under its co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros. Legendary's productions with Warners have included "The Dark Knight," "300" and "The Hangover." Lynn Harris is overseeing for Warners.

My opinion is almost the same from the previous blog I wrote. I love that Legendary is doing this film. I think it will be done right and on the same par as Clash of the Titans. And with the assurances that they will not change the character and they will keep faithful to the original ideas you can be assured that this will not be another mistake like the 1998 Sony version was.
