Both Sci Fi Wire and theOneRing.net (It is also a really hoping site for all things Lord of the Rings associated) have confirmed that the Hobbit movie is now a reality and fans can now start to rejoice that the Hobbit will finally be made..
Ian McKellen said that they should start filming sometime in March and that the script should be in his hands in 2 weeks. He also states that he does know who is playing the role of Bilbo and fans will be quite please with the choice. As this youtube video of Sir Ian Mckellen reveals in his own words.
This is becoming a running theme in movies now. Take an old series and make a movie out of it. Does anyone remember UFO a 1970's sci fi series that had to deal with an organization called SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization) that was in charge of dealing with alien enemy threats. DUH... Well here is where I show both my age and my early geekness for all things sci fi. I do remember this series. My father hated it thinking it was nonsense but as a child of things that were sci fi and such , especially the british ones like Tom Bakers role in Dr Who and such , I loved it. Then again probably if I was to watch an episode today I would have to pick my jaw off the floor and give a loud WTF. Then again I still enjoy some of those older shows with the same childhood zest I did back when. I still probably will think the space girls all in tight silver outfits and odd color wigs are still hot.
There is of now not much I can find on this. A lot of the info on it is in the TBA ( to be announced) stage. There is only a couple of tid bits I could find like the special effects guru Matthew Gratzner that did movies like the The Mummy 3, Hancock, Iron Man and Alien: Resurrection will try his hand in directing and the script has already been written by Ryan Gaudet and Joseph Kanarek. Other then that this is on the watch and wait list of movies. Now to go out and rent or search the net for episodes of the series to refresh the memories of what to expect. I bet you that when the release date is close SYFY or BBC will run a marathon of UFO episodes. That will be great but until then here is some things I dug up to enjoy
The answer to the title is of this blog is ... YEP !! I was confused when I heard the rumor and I did not make a move to write about it thinking it was disgruntle fans of the original. Or fans that wanted to believe that Battlestar was not ending in the way it did. But it is actually going to happen. This time it will hold true to the original series that aired in the late 70's. Most likely Universal thinks with the series that was a hit people would not ..... could not get enough of it. They are probably right. After the successful remake of Star Trek I can bet you that this will be as equally enjoyable to watch and will reinvigorate the franchise once again.
What was once a rumor and now has been confirmed the movie will be both produced and directed by X-men and Supermans Bryan Singer. There is not much more details to this project except it will not be based off the SYFY channels version and it will be a reimagination (That is the buzz word that is being thrown around on all the blogs) of the original.
I leave this blog with the original intro to Battlestar Galctica
Fleeing the Cylon tyranny, the last battlestar, Galactica, leads a ragtag, fugitive fleet on a lonely quest - a shining planet, known as Earth.
The Green Hornet (2010)
Sony Pictures announced along with Columbia pictures that they are going to release the new Green Hornet Movie on July 9, 2010. Starting Seth Rogers ( also has his hand in the writing ), Nicolas Cage as Mr X , Cameron Diaz as Lenore Case and no one yet announced for Kato . Based off the old radio show created by George W. When co-founder of a San Francisco newspaper THE DAILY SENTINEL, JOHN PAUL, is shot in his home, FRANK SCANLON, district attorney, considers John's position as a crime and politics reporter and rules out robbery as a motive. BRITT REID, publisher for the Sentinel, promises his father, DAN, who'd co-founded The Sentinel with John, that he won't rest until he finds out who did this.
At the paper, John's former position as executive TV producer is taken over by REX, a shameless opportunist, who exhibits not one trace of remorse for the company's recent loss. In fact, the first meeting he holds in his new office is with a goon named TOMMY, who inquires about what Rex plans to do with his newfound corporate capital. When Rex suggests that he's thinking of bowing out with his cut after an illicit job they've just completed, Tommy won't allow it and tells Rex that the crew needs something of him--the ability to communicate anywhere, in real-time, without being detected via discreet usage of his TV station for two weeks--if anyone can manipulate info, it's newsmen, he says. With the right people in key positions within The Sentinel, he concludes, anything is possible. He promptly gives Rex a short list of people to fire.
Anime fans will love this one. Straight form the Anime cartoons on TV the Avatar characters will come to life. The movie which be released sometime in 2010 and is produce by M. Night Shyamalan looks like one of those must see movies that will be the beginning of a long series of films. Seems like finally all these movies like Spiderman , Batman , GI Joe and Transformers that are based of toys , games , and comics are being done right for a change.
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. In the old days, there was peace between the four nations of the world.
