With the recent rebirth and success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon it would be logical to see the rebirth of the movie franchise as well. Apparently Paramount and Nickelodeon agrees with that philosophy and now has given a go for a new TMNT to hit the silver screen. Well sort of. This has been a movie in limbo for some time. Michael Bay is producing it but they have had script issues and Paramount has once already shut it down but gave it a green light (I pretty much thinking they are cashing in on the success of the animated series) and was suppose to have open up in theaters on May 16th 2014 but Paramount now has given a solid June 6th release date one week from what I understand from the Jurassic 4 release. Confused. Yea me to.
In addition to all the confusion Megan Fox has join the production as April Oneal. Any one who knows the background for her and Bay will understand what I mean by confusion. There was a solid falling out between the two on the Transformers movies but it seems that they have patched things up according Michael Bays Blog that simply says TMNT: We Are Bringing Megan Fox Back Into The Family. I wonder is she the right fit for April ? That will have to be seen.
According to Deadline Jonathan Liebesman is directing. The current draft is being written by Evan Daugherty. the rest of the cast is as follows .
Pete Ploszek as Leonardo
Alan Ritchson as Raphael
Jeremy Howard as Donatello
Noel Fisher as Michelangelo
Megan Fox as April O’Neil
The rest of the characters are in the To Be Announced stage.
The movie also will be a combination of live action and CGI. That would be a good fit. I loved seeing the original movies when I was growing . I enjoyed them once again with my children especially my youngest who is a huge Michelangelo and Donatello fan. But I always thought the costumes were cheesy and was not a big fan of those productions. I guess it was cutting edge for the day.
