Release date August 8, 2014
Michael Bays version of the Turtles will hit the theaters in about 5 months from now . From this trailer and the synopses of the movie below there will be some creative licensing taking place much like the Michael Bays version of the Transformers. Yet like the Transformers it looks like there is much of the original theme and feel so lovers of the Turtles will enjoy. Its hard to get a read on what exactly has been changed and what has remained in the Turtle lore.
The Turtles themselves are CG’s and for the most part realistic as you can make them. As is evident in the scene where Leonardo and Michelangelo first meet April O’Neil (Megan Fox) on the top of a roof top. Michelangelo in an attempt to calm April down takes his mask off revealing a more human/turtle blended face. Of course she faints which seems to be the same shtick in all the turtles revisions. My guess they take her to their lair like in the original story and she meets the rest of the brothers and Master Splinter.
Shredder seems to be the same but there is a hint of wider plot arc that surrounds April as is hinted in the trailer that starts off ” Hero’s are not born they are created. Thats what your father and I were trying to do”.
The trailer and the news on this remake paints it as a darker version of the Turtles. Which I can really get into as long as they don’t go to dark. Being a fan of the original series when it first came out and now because of my youngest son a huge fan of the remake of the series done by Nickelodeon I am hoping that they keep that charm which makes the series endure the test of time and generations.
